bio

Lachlan is a playwright, musician and teaching artist living on Wurundjeri Country, Melbourne. He has written for independent theatre, youth ensembles, experimental projects and for digital theatre.

Lachlan researches disparate areas of interest - from AI technology to the occult - to find threads that speak to one another even from afar. Characters are constructed from observations, archetypes and dream images. Plot emerges by arranging dramatic action and a narrative is shaped to reflect the subject. His work explores rites of passage, taboos, nature and power within worlds that mythologise the everyday.

Lachlan’s work has been presented at La Mama, The Exit Theatre, PianoFight, the Hollywood Fringe and the New York International Fringe Festival. He has been commissioned by Dreamhouse Theatre Company and has worked in partnership with the Maclaey Valley Arts Council and the Rabbit Hole Theatre Company. He has been supported by Regional Arts NSW and San Francisco Intersection for the Arts. He is a recipient of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, been mentored by Sibyl Kempson and has observed at the Wooster Group. He has been shortlisted for the Canberra Youth Theatre Emerging Playwright’s Commission, was part of Sydney Theatre Company’s Young Playwright’s Residency and was a King Island Artist-in-Residence.

Lachlan is currently writing a screenplay for a full-length feature film.
